The world’s richest, most prestigious and longest-running poker brand, The World Series of Poker (WSOP), announced the return of its WSOP Online poker tournament series will mark the tournament’s third year.

WSOP Action to Continue Online

The WSOP Online 2022 online-only series will take place across WSOP.com in the US and WSOP’s partner GGPoker for all international territories and is highly anticipated by online poker players and fans following the previous two editions of the series which set several records.

Commenting on the announcement, WSOP’s senior vice president and executive director Ty Stewart noted that the return of WSOP Online would bring even more excitement than this year’s WSOP which “no one wanted to see… come to an end.”

“Together with GGPoker, we have a clear vision to make this festival annually the biggest deal in online poker so that the WSOP offers players the marquee event in both live and online poker each year,” Stewart concluded.

The 53rd annual WSOP on the Las Vegas Strip brought a whopping prize pool of $347.9 million awarded to 197,626 entrants. The series’ main event featured one of the largest pools of contestants, 8,663, and brought a WSOP bracelet and $10 million to Espen Jorstad of Norway, the biggest win in his career.

Domestic and International Tournaments

WSOP Online 2022 will include action on the poker tables across GGPoker, from August 14 till September 27, and WSOP.com, from September 10 till October 18, offering official golden bracelet tournaments and wall-to-wall side action. Bracelet winners from WSOP Online 2022, both domestic and international, will be granted a seat at the Tournament of Champions during next year’s WSOP in Las Vegas.

The $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em, known as WSOP Online Main Event, the tournament that entered the Guinness Book of Records for an online poker tournament with the largest prize pool, will again be hosted by GGPoker and will offer players a stab at a staggering $20 million guaranteed prize pool.

GGPoker’s Global Ambassador Daniel Negreanu also commented on the news of the return of the WSOP Online tournament series, outlining that “online bracelets are just as prestigious as live tournament bracelets.”

“I’m glad that we’re creating a new tradition to celebrate the online game, and I’m striving to add my first WSOP Online bracelet to my collection,” added the poker pro winner of six WSOP gold bracelets.

In 2020 and 2021, WSOP Online on WSOP.com offered more than $25 million in prize pools to become the richest domestic online poker tournament series ever.

This year, in addition to players in Nevada and New Jersey, the series will be available to online poker players from Pennsylvania and Michigan, offering these two jurisdictions six weekly bracelet tournaments each, while players on the shared Nevada and New Jersey liquidity pool will compete for 33 bracelets.
