World Series of Poker Site to Launch in Pennsylvania Next Week

The World Series of Poker will finally have its real money poker site available in Pennsylvania to the delight of all poker fans in the state. This was made possible by WSOP partnering with the Harrah’s Philadelphia casino owned by Ceasars, as Pennsylvania’s online gambling laws require.

WSOP.com PA Launches Next Monday

WSOP made the announcement on July 6 and promised that WSOP.com would come to PA within a week, on July 12. The news was solemnly announced on WSOP’s social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. It included additional details as well as promises for sign-up bonuses and tournament guarantees.  Additionally, WSOP teased that it will operate on an updated version of its client that will be better in every respect.

WSOP’s social media spokesperson Kevin Mathers revealed additional details about the gambling poker site’s release in the state. According to him, Pennsylvanian poker players will sadly be unable to participate in the World Series of Poker Online Bracelet event, which has been undergoing since July 1.

Mathers reassured Pennsylvania’s poker enthusiasts that they will be able to join multi-state online bracelet events when WSOP completely settles down in the state. The spokesperson divined that it will happen by the end of 2021, but it isn’t set in stone.

In a tweet, Mathers also added that the change would affect and benefit Michigan. At the moment, Nevada, Delaware, and New Jersey are the only states that have an agreement that lets people from them play against one another. However, as Pennsylvania and Michigan join the lineup, it is likely that other states will follow.

Moving Towards a Multi-State Future

Speaking of Michigan, the state and its population of 10 million will greatly contribute to the regulated online poker ecosystem. However, the state is still to receive a Ceasars-owned site that will fulfill the regulation rules.

In comparison, Pennsylvania’s population, just a bit short of 13 million, will also add a lot of value to the WSOP environment and will double the number of people who are eligible to play. However, Pennsylvania will also provide WSOP with a fair share of competition as two other regulated poker sites already exist in the state – namely Partypoker US Network and PokerStars Pennsylvania.

In any case, regardless of how WSOP fares against the competition, it will still be a viable and high-quality alternative to all who wish to test their skills in online poker. As the regulation laws, progress and usher in an age of regulated poker where people from multiple states all over the United States can participate, playing poker online will offer even more opportunities to all who enjoy the game.  Earlier this year, WSOP returned to Europe as well, where it resumed offering both online and live poker events.
