William Hill to become the title sponsor of Racing League

William Hill has become the title sponsor of Racing League, the UK horse racing’s first team-based competition. The sponsorship aims to revive the interest of the public in “heritage sports.”

As title sponsor, William Hill has secured all of the naming rights of the league, including at the competition’s four host racecourses in Newcastle, Doncaster, Lingfield Park and Royal Windsor.

The Racing League begins on Thursday, July 29, at Newcastle Racecourse, and features 12 teams riding in 36 handicap races. The competition takes place over six weeks.

Huge Prices for the Championship Horse Racing

Championship Horse Racing, the competition organizer, guaranteed around $2.5 million (£1.8 million) in prize money at stake on the racetrack and $68,811 (£50,000) for each race. There will be $275,245 in race day bonuses for the winning team and top three jockeys.

Ahead of the beginning of the competition, William Hill has set ante-post prices for each of Racing League’s 12 teams, based on their chance of winning the League, and sponsoring around $206,439 of the bonus.

Racing is part of William Hill’s DNA

CMO of Racing League, Oli Harris, said that William Hill is one of the biggest names in the industry and, as such, it would help bring Racing League to a new profile level. He said the league looks forward to working with the company and anticipates the first event within a week or so.

William Hill Head of Sponsorship, Liam McKee, said, “At William Hill, racing is part of our DNA, and the Racing League is a truly unique and innovative project that we are delighted to be involved in. Bring on next Thursday.”

Racing League has high-profile teams sponsors for the inaugural competition – ODDSbible, eToro, talkSport, Swish and GOAT Agency.

William Hill to Become International Content Leader

In June, William Hill announced its partnership with leading content platform Contentstack as part of its strategy to become an international content leader.

Its goal is to develop an innovative experience for its brand – William Hill Vegas. The online platform features a new content management system, superior data analytics and market independence.

Recently it became clear that some big companies like 888, Apollo and Advent, are showing interest in purchasing William Hill’s non-US assets from Caesars Entertainment. New sponsorship deals have the potential to increase the value of the company prior to any arrangement.
