Manchester City needs to keep on winning in order to stay in the #1 position in the Premier League standings. The trouble is that winning on Sunday isn’t going to be easy. Not only do Sky Blues play on the road, but they’re locking horns with a very tough opponent. The team in question is West Ham, whose goal is to get to the #6 position. To get there, the Hammers need points.
A win against Manchester City would mean overtaking the #6 position from Manchester United. Playing a draw would mean that everything’s gonna be decided in the final round. Losing on Sunday, however, would probably mean the end of West Ham’s Europa League dream.

West Ham Going All-In
On May 5, West Ham’s Europa League campaign came to an end after they lost to Eintracht Frankfurt. It was their fourth-straight loss in all competitions. With no continental duties anymore for the Hammers, they were able to switch their focus back to the Premier League. As a result, their first EPL game after the Europa League exit saw them beat Norwich 4-0 on the road.
Thanks to that win, the Hammers are now back in the race for a top 6 finish, which would give them the ticket to the next season’s Europa League. They have only three points fewer than the sixth-placed Manchester United, as well as one game fewer. Plus, the Hammers also have a better score difference than the Red Devils. What this means is that if the two finish on level points, West Ham will be given a higher spot in the EPL standings.
To get to the same number of points, West Ham needs to win at least one more game before the end of the season. We say ‘at least’ because the Hammers would probably need to win both of their remaining games as Manchester United is likely to beat Crystal Palace in the final round of the season. What this means is that West Ham has no other option but to try to beat Manchester City on Sunday.
Manchester City is One Step Away from the Title
Pep Guardiola’s men have three points more than second-placed Liverpool, as well as a better score differential. With only two more games left to be played, Manchester City would practically secure the title with a win over West Ham.
Of course, that’s easier said than done, but this team’s been in a brilliant run lately with five straight wins in the Prem. The most impressive fact is that Man City players have scored a total of 22 goals in those five matches while conceding only two.
West Ham vs Manchester City Prediction
Manchester City just needs to win this game. They got the manpower, as well as the motivation to do it. Still, you can be sure that this is not going to be an easy game for them. In fact, we’re certain West Ham will give Guardiola’s boys a run for their money.
Picks: Manchester City to win; over 2.5 goals
