UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law Announced Online Classes

A new online training program for gaming industry personnel will launch during the first and second quarter of 2021 at the William S.Boyd School of Law, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) announced yesterday. Operators, regulators, lawyers and others will have the opportunity to learn from instructors and tutors with decades of experience in professional gaming.

Online Gaming Classes

The law school at the UNLV which was named after William S. Boyd, a Nevada lawyer and co-founder of Boyd Gaming Corp, will deliver the online modules funded by GVC Foundation US, the organization which coordinates GVC Holdings’ social responsibility initiatives on a global scale, with a specific approach to US market issues. The foundation also distributes donations to non-profit organizations with which it has common objectives.

The 8 online classes are designed to prepare gaming industry professionals to face and successfully deal with sophisticated regulatory and operational challenges, presented to them by gaming professionals engaged in cutting-edge research on gaming and regulation and armed with decades of industry knowledge and experience.

Complement, Not Substitute Existing Programs

The online courses are set to complement already existing programs of the law school, such as J.D. gaming curriculum and LL.M. in Gaming Law and Regulation, to respond to the growing needs for talented and knowledgeable regulatory and operational professionals of the expanding gaming industry in the country and throughout the world.

One of the modules included in the online program will be “Introduction to Gaming Law and Regulation” and will be delivered by Anthony Cabot, Distinguished Fellow in Gaming Law at the UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law. The operational aspects of the industry will be covered by Uri Clinton, a former President and COO at MGM Empire City Casino in New York, in the “Introduction to Gaming Operations” class.

“The Legal and Operational Environment for Sports Betting”, will be covered by Keith Miller, Ellis and Nelle Levitt, Distinguished Professor of Law at Drake Law School and visiting professor at the UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law, while “Player Accountability and Corporate Social Responsibility in Gaming Law” will be taught by Alan Fedman, Distinguished Fellow in Responsible Gaming at the International Gaming Institute (IGI) at UNLV and national expert on criminal justice and gaming intersection points, attorney Dayvid Figler.

Simon Planzer, PhD, gaming lawyer and Lecturer in Law at the University of St.Gallen in Switzerland, will deliver the “Public Policy and Comparative Study of Gaming Laws and Regulations” course.
