The Ultimate Fighting Championship will seek better fan engagement through a dedicated fan token delivered on the Chiliz-blockchain through Socios.com.
UFC Embraces Blockchain and Crypto for Fan Tokens
The UFC continues to seek new fan-engagement opportunities after previously teaming with Chiliz for the blockchain platform’s native token. Today, the Ultimate Fighting Championship, arguably the most influential MMA organization, is taking this partnership a step further by launching a UFC Fan Token, which will allow UFC aficionados to tap into a range of exclusive content, VIP rewards, and authentic products.
The UFC Fan Token is coming in June with a limited supply of 20 million, which the organizations hope will boost demand. The token will be minted on the Chiliz blockchain and be accessible through the Socios app, which currently operates all fan tokens by Chiliz.
Tracey Bleczinski, UFC SVP of global consumer products, welcomed the news and said that with 625 million people around the world watching UFC, the token will prove a great way to boost engagement, drive revenue and ultimately help fans be closer to the organization and sport they love. The new token should be a scaled-up version of what the CHZ token offered to UFC fans, albeit with significant improvements designed to boost engagement.
UFC has not shied away from embracing digital assets to establish new synergies and monetization opportunities either. The organization teamed up with Stake.com, making the crypto sportsbook the exclusive betting partner for the UFC in Latin America and Asia.
Chiliz already offers a range of fan tokens besides $UFC. The platform runs various fan tokens for organizations such as FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan, and Manchester City. Chiliz is also looking to expand its footprint in the United States, part of a $50-million investment.
