Three Operators to Compete for Nagasaki Integrated Resort

The Prefecture in Nagasaki chose Casinos Austria, NIKI Group, and Oshidori International to continue to the next stage of interviews for an integrated resort. Current Group and One Kyushu were the two operators that did not make it forward.

Nagasaki IR Moves Forward, Three Operators to Compete for the Project

Earlier this month, Nagasaki prefecture began its first phase of interviews with applicants for an Integrated Resort (IR) project in the prefecture. Launched during the summer of 2018, over the last few months, the IR project has progressed significantly. While initially, five applicants made it through the first stage, now the Prefecture has narrowed this down to three applicants.

Those that made it forward and will continue to the next round of interviews are Casinos Austria, NIKI Group, and Oshidori International together with Mohegan Gaming. On the other hand, the two that did not make it are Current Group and One Kyushu.

Now the operators are going to enter into discussions with the prefecture. Furthermore, each of the three operators will undergo a survey by an independent company which will determine if each candidate is eligible to operate an IR.

If everything goes according to plan, by August, the prefecture would narrow down the list choosing only one of the three candidates. Although a candidate may be chosen by this summer, it is yet unknown when construction of the IR can be initiated. Before that happens, citizens Sasebo, the city where the prefecture plans to locate the IR, need to be consulted.

Focusing on the two operators that did not make it forward we see One Kyushu, which consists of the European Groupe Partouche and the Japanese Pixel Companyz. The other candidate that did not make it forward is Current Group, which consists of several companies: Guangdong Group, Current, Get Nice, ITC Properties, and Success Universe.
