The number of approved mobile sports betting licensees in Tennessee grew earlier this week, following a meeting of the regulator.
The Regulator in Tennessee Approves New Mobile Sportsbooks
On Thursday this week, the Tennessee Sports Wagering Advisory Council (SWAC) approved three new online sportsbook operators. By now, the list of operators surpassed a dozen thanks to the most recent additions Bally Bet, Gamewise doing business as Betly and SuperBook.
Besides the newly approved online operators, major industry players have such as FanDuel, Barstool Sportsbook, Caesars, WynnBET and DraftKings have already set foot in the growing online betting market in Tennessee.
SuperBook, Betly Enter New Jurisdiction
SuperBook is a well-known sportsbook that has more than three decades of experience within the industry. Although it was conceived as a land-based brand primarily in Las Vegas, SuperBook expanded outside Nevada and into the online betting landscape thanks to a partnership with Westgate Resorts back in 2018. By now the company has launched its mobile sportsbook app for the regulated markets in Nevada, New Jersey, Arizona and Colorado.
On the other hand, Betly is a sportsbook brand that is currently available for customers in West Virginia and Arkansas. Now, thanks to the recent approval by the SWAC, the brand will be able to launch its mobile services in Tennessee as well.
Bally Bet Continues to Expand
It’s no surprise that Bally Bet received approval from the SWAC, considering that Bally’s Corporation inked its first NHL partnership with the Nashville Predators last year in October. Thanks to that agreement, the company was designated an Official Sports Betting Partner of the team. The agreement paved the way for Bally Bet to enter Tennessee and is valid through 2025.
Currently, Bally Bet is available and offering its services in Colorado, Arizona, Virginia, Iowa and Indiana. Now, following the recent approval by the regulator, the operator expands its list of available jurisdictions by adding Tennessee. What is more, Bally Bet is planning to enter the regulated market in New York, as well as Ontario. It is yet to be officially confirmed when Bally Bet will officially launch its mobile sportsbook services for customers in Tennessee.
SWAC Introduces Permanent Sports Betting Rules
Tennessee legalized sports betting back in May 2019 and launched its market on November 1, 2020. Initially, the Tennessee Education Lottery was in charge of the activity. However, once the SWAC was established, it was tasked with regulating sports betting and taking the control of the activity from the Lottery.
The SWAC assumed control of the activity on January 1, 2022, and had a 180-day period to set its permanent rules. During that time, the activity was regulated under temporary emergency rules. Besides approving the three new mobile sportsbooks, the Council introduced its permanent rules for sports betting.
