New Structure Will Allow for Closer Connection With Regional Customers

Sports data intelligence provider Sportradar has announced major changes to its global executive team in search of a more regionalized approach. The new structure seeks to enable the company to focus on its end markets. The reshuffle will be effective from 1 January 2021 and will result in eight executives reporting to Carsten Koerl, who will continue in the position of group CEO.

Koerl will be supported by three regional CEOs –  Arne Rees (North America), Werner Becher (UK/EMEA and LatAm), and Eduard Blonk (Asia Pacific, APAC). Rees will be based in New York, Becher will perform his duties primarily from Vienna and Blonk will be based in New York too.

Blonk, who previously served as managing director of global sales, will also assume the responsibility of the chief commercial officer. As part of this role, he will oversee the company’s global sales organization as well as the teams in Sports Content & Partnerships and Integrity Services. Blonk will be supported by Michael Maerz as deputy based in Manila.

Apart from the regional CEOs, the remaining five executives that will report to Koerl are Warren Murphy (chief product officer, Betting & Gaming), Rainer Geier (chief product officer, Sports Entertainment), Ben Burdsall (chief technology officer), Alex Gersh (chief financial officer) and Ulrich Harmuth (chief strategy officer).
