Global sports data, products and services supplier Sportradar and NBC Sports Regional Networks announced today their existing betting data and content partnership deepened in an effort to engage next-generation sports fans.
Leverage Data to Boost Fan Engagement
As part of the new agreement, live game coverage on the NBC Sports Networks channels will be enhanced by the addition of a comprehensive suite of solutions offered by Sportradar’s broadcast services.
“Sportradar is excited to expand its relationship with the NBC Sports Regional Networks as they continue to evolve their offerings to further engage the next-generation sports fan.”
Brian Josephs, VP, Digital Sport, Sportradar
The NBC Sports Regional Networks will leverage Sportradar’s live data interface to bring together live sports and data and deliver faster updates and captivating graphics to complement live action from the game and further engage with sports fans by offering next-level entertainment.
“Our technology platform and 360-degree approach enable them to tap into a number of our capabilities and will give them the flexibility they need to create tailored experiences that meet the changing demands and expectations of their audiences.”
Brian Josephs, VP, Digital Sport, Sportradar
Specialized Data from the MLB and NBA
The expanded partnership will also allow NBC Sports Regional Networks to take advantage of specialized league data provided by its Swiss-based partners such as MLB Statcast and NBA Advanced Stats and uncover more insightful storylines based on detected statistical trends over the course of the live game coverage.
“The NBC Sports Regional Networks are committed to delivering impactful, entertaining and informative live-game experiences, and continuing to experiment and enhance our coverage through technology and innovation.”
Jon Slobotkin, SVP, Content and Live Programming, NBC Sports Regional Networks
Jon Slobotkin continued by noting the importance of the availability of advanced data to support efforts to enhance customer experience, highlighting the role Sportradar plays by delivering “services and capabilities…to best serve fans and meet their evolving preferences for how they consume content covering their favorite teams and players”.
Earlier this month, Sportradar announced it signed definitive agreement with InteractSport to acquire the sports data, technology and insights supplier and further boost its in-house capabilities to supply broadcasters with engaging sports products and services based on data and insights.
On a side note, the proposed merger with Horizon Acquisition Corp. II, the special purpose acquisition company led by the co-owner of MLB franchise Los Angeles Dodgers Todd Boehly, will need more time to complete negotiations as both parties intend to utilize private investment in public equity (PIPE) as part of the deal.
