Sisal, a leading gaming, lottery, and betting company headquartered in Milan, Italy, was awarded a concession contract for the management of gaming in Tunisia by Promosport, a Tunisian sports betting public company, which until now has had the monopoly in the gaming sector.
The contract will allow Sisal to manage and develop its product portfolio, which includes digital games, online games, sports wagering, and instant lotteries for a period of 10 years. These games will be distributed in Tunisia via a massive online and retail network.
Marco Caccavale, Sisal‘s general manager for lottery, commented that gaining the contract “is a significant achievement” for the company.

Sisal Invests in Foreign Markets
Obtaining this contract is a significant win for Sisal and is just part of its strategy for internationalization. This achievement is one of the company’s foreign accomplishments in the last years. In January 2019, Sisal launched “the lotteries license” in Morocco. Sisal won a 10-year concession contract to operate Morocco’s national lottery.
In addition, the company expanded its operations to Spain in July 2019 by launching an online betting and casino gaming license. In August 2020, Sisal reached out to the Turkish gaming market by launching “the lotteries management license.” Previously, In August 2019, Sisal-Sans, a joint venture between Sisal and Demirören Group’s Sans, was awarded a 10-year contract to operate the Turkey National lottery.
As of April 2022, Sisal planned to collaborate with Camelot in the operation of the UK Lottery. Camelot’s contract expires in 2024.
Flutter Entertainment Acquired Sisal
Sisal is an Italian gambling company, established in 1946. Its extensive portfolio includes lottery, wagering, online gaming, and gaming machines as well. In August 2022, Sisal was acquired by Ireland-based Flutter Entertainment Plc for consideration of £1.62 billion (US$1.97 billion) from CVC Capital Partners Fund VI. The deal was announced on December 23, 2021, and completed later in 2022. Prior to that, in 2016, Sisal was purchased by CVC Capital Partners for US$1.1 billion.
When announcing the completion of the purchase deal, Flutter said that Sisal had registered a 58% growth in revenue to £402 million (US$ 431.7million) and 51% growth in EBITDA to £120 million (US$ 128.8 million)for the first six months of 2022. In 2021, Sisal’s total revenue amounted to US$434.6 million in comparison to US$311.9 for 2020.
