Following a decision to refocus entirely on digital and land-based gaming, Scientific Games is now acquiring Lightning Box Studios to continue with its growth strategy in the sector.
SG Adds More iGaming Opportunities with Lightning Box
Scientific Games Corporation (SG) continues to grow its clout in the iGaming space with the company acquiring Lightning Box, a dedicated content studio in the industry. The acquisition allows SG to proceed on a course of becoming a leading, cross-platform iGaming firm operating on a national market from the United States to Europe and beyond.
SG wants to continue expanding its content offering, and the addition of a brand-new studio and its existing and future products is a way to secure this. The company is now looking to acquire more iGaming assets as it has recently exited the lottery and sports betting verticals.
Another stated goal by SG is to pack a more powerful punch in digital markets, which is achievable through the creating of more compelling iGaming products. The addition of Lightning Box will contribute significantly to that goal.
Lightning Box is further a suitable pick as the company understands how both the land-based and online gaming markets operate worldwide. The studio has already created a list of excellent content that continues to generate interest and which is considered some of the best to date. Titles such as ChickenFox, Lightning Horseman, Lightning Leopard, ChickenFox5x Skillstar, Astrocat and Silver Lion will all now be a part of the SG portfolio. In addition, Lightning Box already has a significant footprint in regulated iGaming markets with over 50 casino partners across Europe, Canada and the US.
Lightning Box Studio Works with Globally-Recognized Brands
Some of the notable partnerships the studio has struck over the years include Rush Street, Golden Nugget, FanDuel, BetMGM, Sky Bet, LeoVegas, William Hill and Unibet. SG SVP Gaming and Digital Dylan Slaney praised Lightning Box’s popularity and said that SG was excited to add talented developers to its own team.
“Our strategy is a simple one: talented, passionate people make great games, and the addition of the Lightning Box team is another example of this and how we will continue to be the iGaming industry leader,” Slaney added.
Lightning Box CEO and co-founder Peter Causley was equally excited to be joining the SG team and being able to work closely with a company that would allow Lightning Box to perfect its own gaming products and bring more innovation to iGaming.
He further extolled the virtues of being a partner to the OpenGaming platform, which allows developers to quickly launch their games with multiple parties across the world in a standardized and tailored that complies with local regulation and caters to the tastes of target audiences in each market.
