PointsBet Inks Riverboat Group Agreement to Enter Maryland

Under an exclusive agreement with Riverboat Group, PointsBet secured Maryland market entry. While regulatory approval is still pending, once PointsBet is given a green light it will launch both online and retail sports wagering.

PointsBet Secures Maryland Market Entry via Riverboat Group Partnership

Premier global online gaming operator, PointsBet announced on Thursday that it inked a strategic agreement with Riverboat Group in Maryland. Under the exclusive agreement, the operator will be able to offer both online and retail sports betting. Furthermore, Riverboat Group will receive market access fees from PointsBet for its online and retail sportsbook operations. With that in mind, before launching the activity, PointsBet will need to receive regulatory approval.

Winston DeLattiboudere, a co-managing member of Riverboat Group shared his excitement about the recent deal. He acknowledged that PointsBet is more than an international leader. Furthermore, DeLattiboudere said that Riverboat is proud to be teaming up with such a premier global operator that understands and believes in the industry.

Last month, Governor Larry Hogan signed a sports gambling and daily fantasy sports legislation. As a result, sports wagering was legalized on June 1. In that line of thoughts, DeLattiboudere thanked “Maryland General Assembly for passing legislation which helped to make this enormous opportunity a reality“. Last but not least, he said that Riverboat is looking forward to the phenomenal success which the collaboration will bring.

PointsBet Continues to Grow

Johnny Aitken, PointsBet USA CEO said that Riverboat Group is a terrific partner. Furthermore, he acknowledged that the company is thrilled to initiate the process and offer its services to the sport-loving community in Maryland. Aitken added that PointsBet is looking forward to “responsibly introducing sports bettors” to its market-leading platform that features the “deepest slate of betting options available in the world“.

Besides securing market entry in Maryland, PointsBet also plans to bring its proprietary technology platform, expert trading practices, and premium brand mentality to the growing market. The company is one of the fastest-growing online gaming operators in the US. Furthermore, PointsBet has continuously expanded its footprint by entering new markets. So far, the company has launched its services for sports betting markets in Illinois, Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, New Jersey, and Iowa.
