PointsBet Canada continued to strengthen its position ahead of its official launch in the country by entering into a multi-year partnership with the NHL Alumni Association (NHLAA) to become the organization’s exclusive sports betting partner in Canada and official partner in the US.
‘Appreciation of What Makes Our Alumni Unique’
PointsBet Canada, the Canadian subsidiary of Australian-based sports betting and gaming operator PointsBet, joined forces with the NHLAA to acquire marketing and licensing rights to the association and the many NHL Alumni in North America.
“What made the partnership with PointsBet Canada so attractive was their appreciation of what makes our Alumni unique.”
Glenn Healy, President and Executive Director, NHLAA
The NHLAA president and executive director then explained that the operator grasped from the very beginning the essence of the association’s mission to “‘Honour the Past’ and provide hope and help for all NHL Alumni and their families”. PointsBet would also be happy to embrace “players’ roots and hometowns across the country where their NHL dreams began,” Healy added.
PointsBet’s focus on responsible gaming also played its role, Healy continued, pointing to PointsBet’s determination to play by the rules as a responsible gaming operator and to partner with the players to deliver the importance of safe gambling to Canadian residents.
His stance was reiterated by PointsBet Canada CEO Scott Vanderwel, who was happy to confirm the operator would be “fully supportive of government efforts to create a regulated gaming environment” and would gladly play its role as a legal operator to “promote safe wagering.”
“Saturday Night Hockey Is an Institution’
Also commenting on the announcement, PointsBet Canada chief commercial officer Nic Sulsky outlined the NHLAA was considered a top priority since the moment PointsBet set foot in Canada.
“Saturday night hockey is an institution from coast-to-coast-to-coast. Being able to partner with the likes of Paul Coffey, Nicklas Lidstrom, Mike Vernon, and the countless other NHL Alumni that skated across our screens will allow us to deliver the authentically Canadian gaming experience that we want to bring sports fans.”
Nic Sulsky, CCO, PointsBet Canada
One of the fastest growing online gaming operators PointsBet has the edge over its competitors, capable of offering bettors the deepest slate of pre-game and in-play betting options in the world due to owning its technology end to end, while most of them outsource different parts from third parties. The operator also attracts players with unmatched speed and user-friendly functions.
The agreement with the NHLAA is the latest with a sports organization in the country, following in the footsteps of the deal with Curling Canada in October to become the exclusive betting partner of the organization. The deal was later expanded via agreements with Team Kerri Einarson and Team Kevin Koe.
