The state of Pennsylvania has reported its second-highest monthly GGR in history. Numbers show that there’s a 14.23% increase in the April revenue compared to the same month last year. Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board’s report shows that the total GGR for April reached $461.6 million.
April’s Revenue Is $1 Million Shorter Than March’s Revenue
March’s casino revenue in Pennsylvania reached $462.7 million and it’s just $1.1 million higher than the revenue generated in April. This does not come as huge surprise as a recent survey concluded that the number of gamblers in the state is actually pretty high.
Statewide revenue reached $461,624,617 and Hollywood Casino at Penn National took the first spot. The revenue of this casino reached $65,578,930, which is 22.51% higher than the revenue that it generated in April 2021 ($53,530,883).
Valley Forge Casino Resort came in second with $57,360,531, or a 53.79% increase compared to April 2021 ($37,297,830). Parx Casino generated $57,065,721, Wind Creek Bethlehem generated $49,467,064 and Rivers Casino Philadelphia concluded the top 5 as it reported a $49,134,718 revenue.
In terms of online gaming, the revenue in April 2022 reached $113,109,393, which is a 22% increase compared to April 2021 ($92,676,448). Hollywood Casino at Penn National’s online gambling revenue was $45,226,072. Rivers Casino Philadelphia was second with $28,822,206 and Valley Forge Casino Resort came in third with $21,500,297.
Mount Airy Casino Resort and Live! Casino Philadelphia concluded the top 5 list with $4,973,639 and $3,596,361, respectively. Tax revenue for the state of Pennsylvania was $187,582,955.
Gamblers in Pennsylvania Enjoyed Slot Games the Most
According to the report published by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, retail slots were responsible for $217,892,715 of the total GGR generated in April. Compared to April 2021 ($201,386,057), retail slot revenue increased by 8.20%.
Retail table games revenue reached $91,493,293 and that represents a 17.54% increase compared to April 2021 ($77,839,427). iGaming slot revenue was $76,712,472, sports betting revenue was $33,667,057, iGaming tables revenue was $33,484,910 video gaming terminals revenue was $3,750,735, iGaming poker’s revenue was $2,912,011, and finally, the revenue of fantasy contests reached $1,711,425.
Video gaming terminal revenue and fantasy contests revenue recorded drops in revenue. The revenue of video gaming terminals decreased by 2.6&, whereas fantasy contests revenue decreased by 16.77%.
Parx Casino was the leader in retail slot revenue ($35,779,024), Wind Creek Bethlehem was the leader in retail table games revenue ($22,895,762), Hollywood Casino at Penn National topped the list of iGaming revenue ($45,226,072), Valley Forge Casino Resort topped the list of sports betting revenue ($228,211,812), the top VGT earner was Marquee by Penn ($2,288,031) and DraftKings was the top fantasy contests revenue generator with $1,028,827.
