Scientific Games and FanDuel Go Live in Tennessee and Michigan
A long-standing partnership between gaming technology provider Scientific Games and daily fantasy and sportsbook brand FanDuel grows to include launches of SG’s sports betting technology into two new states, Tennessee and Michigan.
‘Maximize Player Engagement’
Scientific Games and FanDuel launched the OpenSports technology platform in Tennessee and Michigan to expand SG’s presence via this partnership to 6 states, after a launch in April saw the sports betting technology supplier and the betting brand of Flutter Entertainment enter Illinois and Indiana, the partnership’s 3rd and 4th US gaming jurisdictions.
“There is simply no substitute for true platform stability and scalability. Our burgeoning partnership with FanDuel enables this iconic brand to maximize player engagement and market share free from worries over potential downtime.”
Jordan Levin, Group CEO, Digital, SG
Tennessee and Michigan are the two states which set the record as the quickest state to reach $1 billion in gross gaming revenue after Tennessee reached the milestone within 6 months, but in May had to surrender it to the Great Lakes State which achieved the sports betting landmark after only 4 months of operation.
“As the next staging post across a long and successful journey alongside Flutter, going live in two top-performing states with our leading sports betting technology is an exciting moment for both parties.”

OpenSports at the Core of Flutter Brands
Strengthening a partnership spanning 20 years between SG and FanDuel’s parent Flutter Entertainment, the twin launch saw FanDuel live via the OpenSports platform in 6 US gaming jurisdictions, to allow players in Colorado, West Virginia, Indiana, and Illinois, besides Tennessee and Michigan, to benefit from the reliability of the platform. SG and FanDuel are planning to launch into additional states by the end of the year.
The OpenSports technology already proved its capability to repeatedly perform at the highest level during some of the biggest sporting events across the globe.
In the UK, the platform handled a total of 50 million bets, hitting 115,000 wagers per minute during the Grand National, making it one of the most dependable solutions in the sector, while in the US, operators experienced 100% uptime throughout some key sporting fixtures this year.
Besides powering the offering of FanDuel, the OpenSports technology is at the core of some of the group’s other global brands, including sports betting exchange Betfair, bookmakers Sky Bet and Paddy Power, as well as Australian sportsbook Sportsbet.
