IGT Expands Its Footprint in North Dakota with PlaySports

International Game Technology PLC (IGT) has announced an expansion of the company’s betting operations in North Dakota with PlaySports, giving a boost to the retail sports wagering solutions offering in the state.

IGT PlaySports Brings New Offering to Magic Casino and Hotel

International Game Technology (IGT) has announced that it is expanding its footprint in North Dakota. The company signed an agreement with its IGT PlaySports platform, boosting its retail sports betting solutions offering at the Dakota Magic Casino and Hotel in Hankinson, ND.

Dakota Magic Casino and Hotel general manager Wanda Varns said that IGT’s proven PlaySports solution will allow Magic Casino to bring “a new element of gaming” to its patrons and expand the gaming offerings to attract more players and sports fans.

Dakota Magic Casino and Hotel is part of the Dakota Nation Gaming Enterprise, owned and operated by the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate Tribe. It would include the IGT PlaySports platform, self-service betting kiosks, and trading advisory services.

IGT Expands and Strengthens Its Positions in the US

IGT still holds its global positions after it sold its operations in Italy to Apollo Global Management. The acquisition of the company’s gaming assets in Italy was announced in May 2021.

Recently, Rhode Island legislators signed off on a deal allowing IGT and Bally’s Corp to keep their positions in the gaming industry in the state. IGT will continue to be the state’s exclusive lottery technology provider, and Bally’s will retain control of the casino market in Rhode Island. The legislation awaits the final approval by Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee.

Dakota National Gaming Enterprise to Leverage IGT’s Offering

IGT PlayDigital senior vice president Enrico Drago said that as one of the largest tribal casinos in North Dakota, Dakota Magic and Hotel would provide an opportunity for IGT to strengthen its sports betting presence within the state.

Dakota Nation Gaming Enterprise CFO Weston Quinn said that the company is happy to partner with IGT and leverage its world-class sports betting platform and solutions. He said that with its deep-rooted expertise, IGT would help Dakota Magic Casino and Hotel “to establish a successful sports betting offering.”

Drago said that the company looks forward to bringing its cutting-edge service to Dakota Magic Casino and Hotel and its patrons. The company will deploy its leading PlaySports platform and services, with its expert knowledge, to help grow its betting program.
