FansUnite Appointed Michael Lee as Vice President of Gaming
Sports betting and gaming technology supplier FansUnite Entertainment announced another high-level talent acquisition with the appointment of Michael Lee as vice president of Gaming.
Product Expansion and Global Distribution Strategy
Michael Lee, the former CEO of iGaming solutions provider Genesis Gaming, was appointed by FansUnite to direct the company’s efforts towards expanding its portfolio of online gaming products, as well as to create the gaming supplier’s global distribution strategy for its online casino technology.
“Our advanced betting solutions are a result of our state-of-the-art gaming software, and we are proud to appoint Michael Lee as the Vice President of Gaming to lead the development and growth of our casino operations.”
Scott Burton, CEO, FansUnite
Lee joined Genesis Gaming back in 2016 in the role of chief product officer to spearhead the company’s development of a game delivery platform and oversee its expansive portfolio of over 100 iGaming titles. Lee’s tenure was instrumental for the company, which got shortlisted for the 2019 EGR B2B “Innovation in Mobile” award.
“With Lee’s extensive experience, we intend to build upon our strong technology backbone and prepare for future expansions across different betting jurisdictions around the world.”
Scott Burton, CEO, FansUnite
Michael Lee’s working experience also includes various senior management roles in international companies operating in the gaming and telecommunications industries.
Eyeing Lucrative US Markets
The appointment of Lee as vice president of Gaming at the Canada-based gaming technology supplier followed shortly after FansUnite appointed Anna Smith as head of compliance, to signify the company’s strong resolve to further strengthen its leadership team ahead of entering new regulated betting and gaming jurisdictions.
As part of its preparations for the US betting markets, FansUnite hired the services of prominent gaming law firm Ifrah Law PLLC to collaborate with OneComply and assist in the licensing process for the different jurisdictions.
Jeff Ifrah will provide counsel with regard to legal matters in each jurisdiction. FansUnite entered into a deal with compliance and licensing leader OneComply to utilize its expertise in the process of obtaining operational licenses in the US.
Surprisingly, Vancouver-based FansUnite revealed last month its future plans did not include a sportsbook license in Canada, openly admitting to being unable to flex financial muscles with major US sports betting players like DraftKings and FanDuel. Instead, the gaming firm preferred to develop its McBookie sports betting brand in the UK.
