DC United First MLS Team to Host a Sportsbook at Home Arena

DC United has announced that it’s teaming up with FanDuel, a leading sports betting company, to host a dedicated retail sportsbook at Audi Field.

DC United Invites FanDuel into MLS with Sportsbook Partnership

DC United, a Major Soccer League (MLS) franchise, is teaming up with FanDuel, a betting firm, to bring a dedicated sportsbook experience to the team’s home arena, Audie Field, in 2021.

The partnership is shaped as a multi-year deal with its terms kept between kept a secret. What is known is that FanDuel has broken ground in the MLS, the first betting firm to do so.

Now, the Buzzard Point sportsbook, FanDuel’s upcoming venue at Audi Field is awaiting regulatory approval from the DC Lottery before it can roll out in earnest.

The betting lounge will be decked out with a variety of amenities and solutions designed to facilitate the sports betting experience. This includes self-service terminals as well as betting windows, which will be available the whole year around.

Players will be welcome to make bets on popular professional US sports contests, including soccer, baseball, basketball, boxing, motorsports, golf, football and others. Commenting on these developments, FanDuel Group CEO Matt King said that FanDuel was excited to tie this strategic partnership with DC United:

Thanks to this tie-up with DC United, King continued, the company would be able to elevate the sports gaming experience. So far, the company has 12 retail sportsbooks across nine states, all of which offer mobile betting solutions.

Previously, DC United tried to negotiate a partnership with Caesars Entertainment Corp., but the deal has fallen through, a DC United representative has said.

FanDuel is now pending approval, although there has been no official submission for a license to the DC Lottery according to the public data about wagering license applications. One is surely in the works.
