BetMGM to Roll Out Online Poker in Michigan
Market-leading sports betting and gaming company, BetMGM, may soon be competing with PokerStars in Michigan’s regulated online market. According to Pokerfuse, Entain and MGM Resorts will be launching online poker in the Wolverine State. The launch is expected in the next 3 weeks and will be under the BetMGM brand.
Last month, the company launched its sports betting and online casino services in the state. Each player that has already registered and verified their BetMGM account in Michigan will be able to also access BetMGM Poker once the platform launches.
Before launching in Michigan, BetMGM raised its net gaming revenue (NGR) forecast. Initially, in October, the company announced NGR expectations between $150 and $160 million. However, in January, BetMGM increased this number by more than 10%, expecting NGR between $175 million and $180 million.
The long-awaited sports-betting launch was completed on January 22. Both tribal and commercial operators showed interest to launch the activity and secured licenses. Although it hasn’t been even a month, there are already high hopes about the market in Michigan.
Besides Michigan, BetMGM also plans to launch its online poker services in Pennsylvania in the near future. In October last year, the operator received approval for online gaming from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB). Consequently, early in December, BetMGM launched its BetMGM Casino for residents of the Keystone State. After that, in mid-December, BetMGM rolled out its mobile sports betting app.
By now, BetMGM offers its services in the regulated markets of 10 U.S. states. Those are Indiana, Colorado, Iowa, Michigan, New Jersey, Tennessee, Nevada, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Virginia. The operator offers sports betting on NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, and more sports.
