Las Vegas Sands Lands on the DJSI World Index Once Again
The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), a global sustainability benchmarks tracking corporate sustainability, once again recognized the leading developer and operator of world-class integrated resorts (IRs), Las Vegas Sands.
Las Vegas Sands announced Tuesday it was recognized once again by the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI).
Dow Jones Sustainability Indices Recognize Las Vegas Sands
The latest recognition marks the third consecutive time Las Vegas Sands is recognized on the DJSI World Index. The company was recognized on the DJSI North America Index for the seventh time as well. What’s more, Las Vegas Sands’ subsidiary, Sands China, also made it to the DJSI World Index. This marked the first time Sands China lands on the DJSI World Index, but the company also scored a repeated appearance on the DJSI Asia Pacific Index.
“Our continued recognition on this premier global sustainability benchmark is a testament to our multi-faceted and long-standing commitment to environmental and social leadership.“
Patrick Dumont, president and chief operating officer at Las Vegas Sands
Patrick Dumont, Las Vegas Sands’ president and chief operating officer, said that the company’s long-term commitment to social and environmental leadership is once again recognized by the prestigious sustainability benchmark. “This focus further extends the value our world-class integrated resorts contribute to local economies and quality of life,” he added.
Dumont pointed out that the recent Indices reaffirm the company’s position as a go-to partner and employer for regions where it operates. Finally, the president and chief operating officer said that Las Vegas Sands continues to help communities and invest in its leadership, which ultimately helps to reduce the impact on the environment.
The Recognition Marks an Important Achievement for the Company
The latest recognition marks an important achievement for Las Vegas Sands, considering that it is one out of the three companies to be recognized by the DJSI World Index in the category of Casino and Gaming industry.
Additionally, the company was the only one in the same group for the DJSI North America Index. On the other hand, DJSI Asia Pacific Index featured two companies in the category of Casino and Gaming and Sands China was one of them, which marks another important achievement for the parent company.
This year’s recognition comes as no surprise, considering the ongoing efforts in terms of global sustainability by Las Vegas Sands. In fact, the company revealed this year an ambitious plan for the development of its workforce, reduction of carbon emissions and implementation of sustainable practices under its People, Community and Planet corporate responsibility pillars.
