KSA Warns Anonymous Operator over Ads during Live Games

The Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) is not happy with the way some operators still fail to follow up on what the Dutch gambling regulator believes is a pretty straightforward code of conduct for entities in the country. In one such case, a licensed entity continued to push online ads for live soccer league games bringing the watchdog’s discontent.

KSA Tells Operator to Follow the Rules

While the KSA has refused to name the entity involved, it specified that it involved repeated ad pushes on Erediviste.nl. The ads themselves would direct people to the gambling license’s website, where they could act out on the ads. This particular marketing strategy makes a lot of sense.

Why not push advertisement at the precise time when people are the most likely to spend? Well, as it turns out, the KSA has a very strict rule against publishing online ads as sports events are in progress. License holders are not allowed to engage in such behavior, and they should know what the KSA said.

The regulator was quick to act, informing the operator that it had been violating its rules. The operator complied soon after, the watchdog explained. However, the KSA had not gone on to name the offending party publicly, but it confirmed that it is one of the 11 licensed parties in October, which narrows it down.

Choosing not to name the offending party is a rare courtesy that the KSA bestows an operator. Just a few weeks ago, the regulator fined Holland Casino for failing to comply with the country’s whistle-to-whistle ban on betting advertisement – a very similar situation indeed. The KSA is ever vigilant over the industry. It has cautioned license holders to continue carrying out strict customer checks, particularly anything related to the self-exclusion program.
