Inter Milan Still Having Title Ambitions
Even though they’re sitting in the No. 2 position in Serie A, the chances that Inter Milan will get to the top of the table don’t seem that great. It’s because table leaders Napoli have 13 points more than them at the moment. Still, the season is long – we’re only at the halfway point right now – so anything can happen in the next 20 rounds.
One thing is clear, though. In order to get back in the race for the title, Inter Milan need to enter a winning run. Their form isn’t bad, but it’s not great either. They’re 3-1-1 in Serie A since the start of the year, which isn’t something to be proud of knowing that four of their five opponents were teams from the bottom half of the table.
They did, however, managed to defeat Napoli in their first game of 2023. The score was 1-0 at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, which has been Inter’s fortress this season. At home, they’re 8-0-2 so far, which makes them the second-best home side in the league.
AC Milan Need to Up Their Game ASAP
The reigning champions of the Italian Serie A aren’t doing well at the moment. They’re 1-2-2 in the league since the start of the year, which has significantly lowered their chance of retaining the trophy.
The reason behind their poor run is that they have some serious problems with injuries, especially at the back. Their first-choice goalkeeper Mike Maignan is out and is replaced by Ciprian Tatarusanu. With the Romanian veteran between the sticks, AC Milan conceded 18 goals in the seven games they’ve played so far in 2023.
Of course, it’s not only his fault. He would’ve done better if all of AC Milan’s defenders were fit, but they aren’t – Fikayo Tomori, Alessandro Florenzi, and Sergino Dest are all out.
Inter Milan vs AC Milan Prediction
These two have already met once in 2023. It was a Super Cup game, played Saudi Arabia, and Inter won 3-0. We suspect something similar might happen this Sunday as well. AC Milan are horrible at the back, so we can definitely see them allow a couple of goals. This time, however, we do think they can score a goal (or two) on their own.
Picks: Inter Milan to win and over 2.5 goals
