For most people, the mention of a game room usually brings to mind a couple of consoles, joysticks, and in some of the wilder instances – an arcade game. A $6 million Florida listing has it all, plus another type of gaming room – one with a small-scale casino and its own bar.

Mansion with Casino Room

A recent Florida house was listed for $5.95 million, and notably – it was its own casino room. The mansion is located at the Reunion Resort in Kissimmee, Florida, and covers around 11,000 square feet. It offers multiple forms of entertainment besides gambling, as well as recreational amenities. There’s golfing available, a 12-seat movie theater, and a spa.

Mansion Global provided a detailed overview of the luxurious listing, and the article highlighted there are 11 bedroom suites and 14 bathrooms. However, this is all rather standard for a multimillion-dollar real estate listing. It’s the included casino that distinguishes this particular property, and it’s for a good reason, as it’s definitely a highlight selling point.

There are a number of slot machines available, and also there’s also an eight-player roulette wheel and an appurtenant bar. There’s an old saying: “The house always wins” which in this case – if someone buys this almost $6 million mansion, might very well be true for them. The house is also available as a rental for $700.

Florida’s Gambling Scene

While there are states that don’t allow for the installment or even the private purchases of specialized gambling equipment and machines, Florida does have certain conditions for purchasing a slot machine. Only slots older than 20 years are allowed for purchase, however, the listing didn’t provide information on the age of the ones installed in this particular residence.

Slot machines were first legalized in Florida in 1931, having a dynamic status up until 2004, when voters narrowly approved a constitutional amendment. It stated that slot machines would be legal at existing pari-mutuel facilities in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. The Seminole Tribe later got exclusive rights to all other slots for 20 years, limiting the gambling scene to tribal establishments.

A more recent limiting factor to Florida’s gambling landscape has been the issue of sports betting. There are some similarities in that the Seminole tribe was to be given exclusive rights to sports betting, but when that got dropped, the issue was left in the air. The Biden Administration weighed in earlier in the year but nothing’s been decided yet.

If it eventually does decide to join the ranks of more than 30 states that have legalized sports betting, Florida is most likely to do so next year. While Alabama doesn’t seem to be too interested, Georgia has been pushing for it, and a driving force in tipping the scales has often been having a neighbor who’s already in.
