Sports data provider Genius Sports (GS) announced today it entered into a partnership deal with the governing body of premier Mexican soccer, Liga MX. Under the terms of the deal, GS becomes the organization’s exclusive long-term Official Data, Streaming and Integrity Partner.
Exclusive Sports Betting Data Provider
The exclusive agreement with the sports governing body in Mexico will give GS the rights to collect live data from in-stadia across the two men’s soccer top flights, Liga MX and Liga de Expansion, the domestic cup competition, Copa MX, and the women’s soccer division, Liga BBVA Femenil. Data captured in the games can then be distributed to licensed sports betting operators in the US and worldwide.
“As one of the highest quality, most passionately followed leagues in world soccer, we are delighted to be supporting Liga MX at such critical stage of its global growth. Our long-term partnership will deliver value for Liga MX and help to connect Mexican soccer with fans around the world while providing sportsbook operators with security of supply and premium new streaming content.”
Sean Conroy, Commercial Director, Genius Sports Group
In terms of streaming rights, the long-term partnership deal will provide sportsbook operators with low-latency streams from every game in Liga de Expansion, and will elevate the league’s global profile, as well as create a platform for fan engagement.
“Our league grows in every aspect, development, innovation and the expansion of our international profile are our fundamental pillars. This alliance with Genius Sports Group will help us reach, through data, more fans around the world. It is important to highlight that Genius Sports Group’s integrity program will provide real-time alerts for betting-related issues, which strengthens our commitment to transparency.”
Enrique Bonilla, Executive President, LIGA MX
Boosting Integrity of Mexican Soccer
The Bet Monitoring System deployed by Genius Sports will be the center of a new integrity program seeking to alleviate risks for Mexican soccer from the adverse impact of match-fixing practices and betting-related corruption. Utilizing predictive models, GS’s odds monitoring system cross-references movements in odds across many platforms around the world and automatically flags potentially suspicious activities.
Since its merger with the special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) dMY Technology Group II in $1.5 billion deal and getting listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), Genius Sports extended its deal with the National Basketball League (NBA), to continue as an Official Data Provider for the professional league.
