Gaming Revenue in Nevada Increases in January 2021
Nevada’s January gaming revenue hit $761.8 million. This represented an increase when compared to December 2020. Sports betting was responsible for $52.4 million in gaming revenue, which marked an increase of 159.9% when compared to December.
Gaming Revenue in Nevada Improves in January
In January, Nevada’s gaming revenue marked growth when compared to December last year. Although the revenue still falls behind on a year-on-year comparison, it has improved since December. Nonrestricted gaming locations in Nevada reported a total “gaming win” of $761.8 million in January. Those results confirm that the gaming industry is ready to bounce back after the 2020 difficulties.
However, when compared to January 2020, this result represents a 26.58% decrease from $1,037,679,865. The fiscal year comparison for the period July 1 2020 to January 31, 2021, also marks a decrease of 24.41%. On the bright side, when January’s revenue is compared to December 2020, it marks an increase of 11.4%. In that line of thoughts, 2020 proved to be the most difficult year for Nevada in decades. Last year, the gaming revenue hit its lowest point in 24 years to $7.87 billion.
Sports Betting Revenue Skyrockets
Further breakdown of the $761.8 million gaming win from January shows that table, counter table, and card games raised $235.4 million from the total. Out of that amount, sports betting was responsible for $52.4 million in January. This represented a significant increase of 159.9% when compared to the results from December 2020.
Furthermore, blackjack also recorded an increase in January. Blackjack raised $55.0 million in revenue last month, which represented a 42% increase when compared to December 2020. However, January’s table, counter table, and card game revenue still fell behind with 26.6% when compared to January 2020.
Slots were responsible for the bigger half of the gaming win in January this year. Slots raised $526.5 million in gaming revenue last month. This marked a 26.7% decrease when compared to January 2020.
Las Vegas Strip Raised the Bigger Part of Gaming Revenue Last Month
Focusing on revenue per area, we see that last month, the bigger cut of gaming win revenue was raised in Clark County. Some $617.3 million were raised in Clark County last month out of the $761.8 million gaming win total.
Traditionally, Las Vegas Strip was responsible for the bigger part of the gaming revenue from Clark County. It raised $312.5 million in January, while Boulder Strip came in second with $66.2 million. Furthermore, Downtown Las Vegas raised $48.9 million in gaming revenue last month, while Laughlin was responsible for $33.5 million.
