Flutter’s Top Officers in UK and Ire Were Retailers for a Day

Flutter Entertainment’s top-ranking UK and IRE officers, Chairman Ian Proctor and CEO, Conor Grant supported their retail colleagues during the final Euro 2020 Group-D matches of England against Czech Rep and Scotland against Croatia.

Grand was at the counter of Paddy Power Headrow, Leeds, and Proctor – at Kings Cross, London. During their visits, shop managers took all of the necessary safety measures. Grand and Proctor looked after the shop tills and served customers during the football games night.

Grant said: “Thank you to everyone at Paddy Power Headrow, Leeds, for showing me the ropes today it was great to be back behind the counter.” He also said that the ongoing impact of the pandemic on retail shops has led to challenges in the sectors, but the colleagues have adapted to the new working environment. He said that it’s great to see the shops open for business and welcome customers safely.

Proctor said that he was lucky to spend time with his colleagues at the Kings Cross branch ahead of a big night in Scotland. He stated that, evidently, customers and employees anticipated the reopening of retail and the return of live sports.

Betting Shops Overcame Challenges and Re-Opened in April

Betting shops in England and Wales re-opened on April 12. The shops spent the winter closed during the pandemic, but Flutter made sure to pay all of its staff in the UK and Ireland. The company spent around $14 million to maintain its +3000 retail employees and chose not to use the government’s furlough scheme.

Proctor said that “We’ve seen steady trade throughout the tournament so far and anticipate that will grow as our home nations proceed through to the knockout stages.” He expressed his gratitude to all retail colleagues for a great job keeping the customers safe and entertained.

Flutter with a New Committee of the Board

Recently, Flutter announced its new initiative to establish a Committee of the Board to engage the Board of Directors with its 14,000 employees from 75 nationalities across five continents.

The company wants to replace its Employee Voice Forum (established following the recommendations of the 2018 Corporate Governance Code in the UK). Now, the global giant aims to create a more practical mechanism to engage better with its workforce worldwide.
