The Boring Company Plans to Expand Las Vegas Loop
The Boring Company by Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk may be looking to expand its Las Vegas Loop system. During a Board of Directors meeting of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) earlier this week, Steve Hill, president and CEO revealed that the company recently submitted its special use permit application to the City of Las Vegas. Furthermore, the Boring Company intends to file a land use application in Clark County soon. This marks the first steps of constructing the tunneling system connecting the Strip, airport, and stadium.

The underground tunneling project began with the construction of the $52 million Convention Center Loop which connects the existing 3.2 million square foot Las Vegas Convention Center with its $980 million West Hall expansion. According to the project, guests of the 200-acre campus will be transported in less than two minutes by Tesla vehicles using the Loop. With that in mind, the completion of the project is expected in January next year.
The Future of Loop Transportation in Las Vegas
The newly proposed tunneling network is similar to the company’s existing project which aims to connect the north and south side of Las Vegas. The tunneling system plans to go as far north as the Circa casino, throughout the Strip with the main artery being under Las Vegas Boulevard and reach south to the airport and Allegiant Stadium. The innovative tunneling system project represents Musk’s vision of traveling hassle-free and away from the noisy traffic.

Furthermore, the plans for the tunneling transportation system include a passenger station and a connecting tunnel for the Resorts World Las Vegas. The $4.3 billion resort project which is still under construction is expected to open next summer. Resorts World has already received the approval of the Clark County Commission to connect to the tunneling loop system. Once accomplished, the project will offer easy transportation for passengers across Las Vegas via the tunnels with Tesla vehicles.
