Leading daily fantasy and sports betting operator DraftKings announced today it reached a sponsorship agreement with the Boston Red Sox to become the official Daily Fantasy Sports provider of the professional baseball franchise.
Expanding Local Presence
The deal with the Red Sox will see the sports betting brand displayed throughout the home of the professional baseball franchise, Fenway Park, including field-level home plate signage and LED branding along the first and third baseline for one inning at each home game of the regular season.
“We are thrilled to team up with a historic franchise like the Red Sox and bring DraftKings closer to this passionate fanbase, which is even more special given our hometown Boston roots. As a Boston-born company, we are well-acquainted with the devotion of Boston sports fans, and we believe the engagement possibilities of this integration are only just beginning.”
Ezra Kucharz, Chief Business Officer, DraftKings
Current DraftKings signage above the iconic Green Monster, the 37-foot-2-inch-high left-field wall at Fenway Park, will remain, while the sponsorship deal will also see a variety of content integrations for the DFS operator.
Besides the in-stadium branding, the agreement with the MLB franchise will see DraftKings being promoted as the official daily fantasy partner of the Red Sox Foundation via emails, social media, and the website of the foundation.
DraftKings will also have title sponsorship of the 50-50 raffle for all home games of the Red Sox under the sponsorship deal, including branding on paddleboards, tickets, and email blasts used by the raffle sales team.
Reinforcing Existing Relationship
The agreement between Boston-based DraftKings and the Red Sox further deepens the ongoing relationship of the DFS brand with one of the most storied teams in baseball and expands the presence of the operator in the Northeast.
“Since 2015, we have worked closely with DraftKings and are pleased to now have this Boston-based company on board as our official daily fantasy sports partner. With millions participating in the world of fantasy sports, this partnership positions us well to grow our game and engage with our fans on a trusted platform. We look forward to deepening our partnership in the years ahead.”
Troup Parkinson, Executive VP, Partnerships, Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox became the latest local professional franchise to be sponsored by DraftKings, following in the footsteps of NFL franchise New England Patriots and NBA franchise Boston Celtics.
Daily fantasy sport is a vertical which has allowed DraftKings to reach sports fans and establish a presence as one of the top two DFS operators nationwide.
Despite pushing efforts to set up new DFS operations, recent move in Oregon saw the Boston-based brand discontinue its DFS offering in the state as part of a strategic plan to appease the regulator prior to a possible takeover of sports betting operations.
