Ahead of Michigan’s expected online sports betting launch, PointsBet has signed a deal with NBA’s Detroit Pistons.
PointsBet Signs Commercial Deal with Detroit Pistons
PointsBet is on a roll with the company teaming up with the Detroit Pistons, Michigan’s leading NBA franchise, ahead of the official online launch of sports betting in the Great Lakes State.
As a result, PointsBet is an official sports betting partner for the Pistons in the state and will have access to various intellectual property assets, including logos as well as other IPs.
The pair will work on various partnership opportunities and boosting visibility for each other’s brand name across digital and social channels. Specifically, the deal features digital signage, broadcasts, tailored content and more all available through Pistons.com’s dedicated mobile app and social media.
PointsBet will naturally reciprocate. To cement the alliance, former Pistons’ ace Rip Hamilton is joining the sportsbook as a dedicated brand ambassador and will promote its products in Detroit and Michigan as a whole.
Growing Opportunities for PointsBet
Commenting on the deal, PointsBet US chief executive Johnny Aitken said that the company was excited to be joining Michigan as a “fantastic sports state,” and it was equally happy to add Hamilton as a brand ambassador.
PointsBet has been one of the early applicants for a state license with Michigan expected to launch its betting in January. So far, 15 companies have obtained a license to run with sports betting products in the state.
The company has experience negotiating strategic partnerships with sports franchises. PointsBet is affiliated with the Detroit Tigers as an official sports betting partner for the MLB franchise.
Furthermore, PointsBet has had a great footprint to be proud of across the United States. With a combination of unique products and great positioning, PointsBet now has ties with other sports franchises outside Michigan, including the Indianapolis Colts, the Colorado Buffaloes, and many more.
