Despite COVID-19 Setbacks, Hann Casino Resort Plans Hiring Spree

The Philippines can’t shake its COVID-19 issues. Just when it seems like things are improving, new cases emerge, forcing the return of quarantine and other health measures. Despite the ongoing problems, Widus Philippines is going on a hiring spree for its Hann Casino Resort in the Clark Freeport Zone. Up to 1,000 positions need to be filled in a variety of areas.

Hann Casino Resort Searching for Employees

Hann Casino Resort, formerly the Widus Hotel and Casino, has been going through a major upgrade, paused only briefly at times because of the pandemic. The finished product will be a $1-billion resort designed to attract travelers of all types from across the globe, and the first phase of the project is expected to be complete before the end of this year. To help the resort forge ahead, its owner, Widus Philippines Inc., wants job seekers to come out for a job fair next week.

The job fair will be held on August 18, with Widus Human Resources Director Ana Christi Galura indicating to media outlet SunStar Pampanga that the company needs to fill positions in gaming, slot operations, casino marketing, cage operations, IT and Security and Surveillance. However, despite 1,000 new positions becoming available through the property’s upgrades, only the first 200 people to show up for the job fair will be allowed in. Galura adds, “As Widus turns 15 this month, we look forward to having more talented, passionate and dedicated individuals from Pampanga and the region to join our growing team. It is through our committed partners and associates that we successfully achieve our vision of becoming the ultimate one-stop leisure destination.”

World-Class Property with Plenty of Options

Once complete, Hann Casino Resort will rise 19 stories and will be located next to the Clark Marriott Hotel. It will offer 380 keys, specialty dining and retail options, ballrooms and more. Information on the gaming options that will be included has not been updated. However, according to the SunStar, “With its impeccable international standards and exceptional lifestyle concept, Hann Casino Resorts brings the idea of the “millionaire’s playground” to life that’s perfectly suited for both business and leisure travelling.”

All of the new gambling toys, amenities and playgrounds rely on the Philippines being able to bring COVID-19 under control. That has proven to be extremely difficult for more than a year, with the country’s government riding a roller coaster of highs and lows in the number of positive cases. More recently, new quarantines and lockdowns have been implemented once again as a new surge is seen. According to the Philippines’ Department of Health, there were 12,021 new COVID-19 cases as of yesterday. That brought the total number to over 1.68 million, with yesterday marking the highest number of active cases – at 81,399 – since April 24. Metro Manila is back on “enhanced community quarantine,” the country’s strictest quarantine, until August 20.
