CDI Selects Maureen Adams as New SVP of Gaming Operations

Earlier this week, Churchill Downs Incorporated announced that its SVP of gaming operations Austin Miller will retire.

Austin Miller to Retire from Churchill Downs in March

Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) said on Thursday that Austin Miller, who served as the company’s SVP of gaming operations for 8 years will retire. His retirement is effective as of March 1, 2022. Overall, Miller was a part of CDI for 15 years and he initially started as a president of Fair Grounds Race Course and Slots in New Orleans, Louisiana. At that time, he spearheaded the design, construction and opening of the company’s first gaming venue. Later on, Miller took the position of president of Calder Casino in Miami Gardens, Florida in 2010. Afterward, in 2013 he transitioned to the company’s headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky and he served as SVP of gaming operations since.

Besides Miller’s retirement, CDI announced who will fill the position of SVP of gaming operations. Churchill Downs said that it promoted Maureen Adams to fill in for Miller’s role and become the new SVP of gaming operations. Adams has been a part of CDI for 8 years. During that time she has held key roles such as president and general manager of Calder Casino in Miami Gardens, Florida. Moreover, she served as VP of gaming operations since 2019. Before joining CDI, Adams was a part of Caesars Entertainment for 15 years. During her tenure at Caesars, she held key senior positions related to marketing, sales and finance operations.

CDI’s president and chief operating officer, Bill Mudd, acknowledged that Miller has played a key role in the company’s growth for years. He explained that Miller is both bold and creative, which resulted in a long-term positive impact on the company’s properties. Additionally, Mudd said that he is “grateful for his leadership during a transformative time and wish him nothing but the best in his retirement.”

Austin has been central to the growth and evolution of CDI over the years.

Speaking about Adams’ appointment, CDI’s president and chief operating officer said that she brings more than 25 years of industry experience. He outlined that she has a proven track record and a “keen aptitude for inspiring and developing her team to achieve both their personal and professional goals.”

Last but not least, CDI announced that it promoted Ryan Jordan to the position of SVP of real estate development. The company explained that in his new position, Jordan will be in charge of strategic planning at existing properties. Moreover, he is also going to be leading the design and construction of CDI’s new gaming venues.
