Caesars to Build Harrah’s Casino and Racetrack in Nebraska
Caesars Entertainment inked a new deal with Columbus Exposition and Racing to build and develop a Harrah’s casino and racetrack. The new venue is expected to cost approximately $75 million and will be located in Columbus, Nebraska.
New Racetrack and Casino Comes to Nebraska
Caesars Entertainment, the US casino giant, announced a new deal with Columbus Exposition and Racing (CER). Under the deal inked with the horse racing operator last Friday, Caesars is going to build and operate a Harrah’s casino and racetrack located in Columbus, Nebraska.
The new venue will be located just off Highway 81 in Columbus and will cost approximately $75 million. Furthermore, the venue is expected to feature a one-mile horse racing track, as well as a 40,000-square-foot casino and sportsbook. The casino floor is expected to feature more than 20 table games and 400 slot machines. Additional amenities include retail space, as well as a restaurant. The company estimates the venue to be completed in late 2022.
Caesars Shows Commitment to the Racing Industry
Caesars’ CEO, Tom Reeg, shared his excitement in a statement by saying that when Nebraska residents voted for gaming at racetracks, the company was sure that Harrah’s was a perfect fit. He acknowledged that the company’s significant experience in the casino industry combines with a commitment toward horse racing and stressed that Caesars is looking forward to creating new experiences in Columbus by connecting the venue to the company’s nationwide Caesars Rewards network.

Joe Morris, SVP of Racing at Caesars, shared similar excitement about the recent announcement. He asserted that the company is thrilled to have the opportunity to transform horse racing in Columbus. Morris revealed that, considering that a new first-class track is about to be built, this demonstrates Caesars’ commitment to the racing industry, as well as “intent to carry on the area’s storied racing tradition.“
