Boyd, Aristocrat and Sightline Team up for Casino Cashless Payments

Boyd Gaming, Aristocrat and Sightline Payments have teamed up for cashless transactions at the Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City.

Cashless Solutions to Go Live at Blue Chip Casino in Indiana

Leading provider of cashless payment solutions Sightline Payments has teamed up with gaming heavyweights Boyd Gaming and Aristocrat Technologies to guide the companies through their transition to touchless payment options.

The company will deploy its product at the Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City, Indiana and deliver a new, high-end payment experience for consumers. Thanks to the collaboration between Aristocrat, Boyd and Sightline, patrons at Blue Chip Casino will be able to fund their accounts electronically, ensuring a safer, more transparent model of play overall.

All money will be available to use on player-favorite slot machines, the press release by the company assured. Should any money be left at a slot machine, the funds can just as easily be transferred back to the digital wallet that will be unique for each customer.

This is just a start for the companies, and the cashless payment solution will be used to power other aspects and experiences at Blue Chip and beyond. This includes table games, restaurants, and various other amenities.

Cashless payments are increasingly popular with many casino and hospitality properties in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. IGT is expected to start spearheading its cashless solutions in Nevada, enjoying a favorable ruling by the local regulator.

Cashless Enjoys Quick Adoption by the Industry

Mobile and cashless payment options have been talked about for while now with a call for quicker regulatory approval coming shortly after the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. In Florida, the Seminole Tribe partnered up with Everi Holdings to offer cashless solutions.

Meanwhile, in California, the Morongo Casino and Resort became the first property to go cashless. Even payment processors such as Visa are planning to increase their support for cashless payment during major sports events, such as the upcoming Super Bowl LV.

Boyd Gaming CIO and SVP Blake Rampmaier was thrilled to have this opportunity to collaborate with both Aristocrat and Sightline. In Rampmaier, the solution developed as part of three-way collaboration is bound to bring customers an unmatched cashless experience.

Sightline CEO Joe Pappano said that Boyd Gaming willingness to be an early adopter has been exemplary and that a mobile-centric payment ecosystem is in the works in all verticals and throughout all channels. Or, in other words, the companies are getting an early start on the future.

Boyd will still need to obtain regulatory approval before it can go live with the solution. In the meantime, Aristocrat executive vice president of customer experiences, Cath Burns, expressed her company’s appreciation for having the opportunity to be at the forefront of cashless payments adoption.

“This collaboration between Boyd Gaming, Sightline Payments and Aristocrat Technology will serve as a blueprint for the path forward for the industry,” Burns concluded.

According to the American Gaming Association (AGA), which has also called for a relaxation of regulation for cashless payments, 59% of casino-goers in the past year have been less likely to use cash.
