More players than ever before are trying their hand at the game, and there are plenty of pros who hail from India that are making names for themselves in the worldwide poker community. Now, anyone in the country can become a professional poker star by attending The Big Stack’s online poker university.

The Big Stack was founded by Rai Sahib Singh Khurana, Ritesh Tanu and Sunny Kochar. The venture originally started out as an apparel business, selling poker-themed clothing, but the owners have decided to venture out into poker education.

The three businessmen wanted to develop a program to provide beginners with the training they need to make it in the very competitive world of online poker.

There are three coaches who will be teaching players the ins-and-outs of the game:

Abhishek Goindi

Goindi has been playing in poker tournaments for over a decade, and has nearly $300,000 to his name in tournament winnings. He is currently 17th on India’s All-Time Money List.

Prabhat Kiran Mukherjea

Mukherjea quit his job as a lawyer to pursue a career in the poker world. The decision turned out to be a wise one, as managed to earn some impressive wins and even won the PokerGuru Tour Player of the Year title in 2012. The player eventually quit playing poker professionally, but his happy to coach aspiring players and help them be the best players possible.

Pratibha Arya

Arya is one the leading female poker players in India, and is making a name for herself in the international market. Most recently, she was one of the pros selected to play against the poker AI bot Deepstack, and she represented the Poker Nations Cup in Oxford.

The Indian Online Poker Market

Over the course of the past few years, there has been a significant increase in the number of people from Indian playing poker online. The demand for quality online poker sites in the country was so huge that PokerStars eventually opened up an Indian-facing platform in 2017.

The marketing continues to boom, and there is now a Team PokerStars India with talented pros like Aditya Agarwal and Muskan Sethi. The World Poker Tour even launched its first-ever Indian event in 2017.
