Betsson Group Affiliates, the exclusive online affiliate program promoting Betsson Group brands, announced the appointment of Triston Smook as its new Head of Affiliates.
Driving Traffic, Building Relationships with Affiliate Partners
The new Head of Affiliates will be tasked with leading the affiliate department and driving traffic to more than 20 brands operating under the Betsson Group umbrella, including establishing professional long-term relationships with affiliate partners and other stakeholders.
Smook has been promoted to the new role having served over three years at Betsson Group Affiliates, starting as Key Affiliate Manager in October 2019 and growing to an Affiliate Business Development Manager in December 2020, and then to Senior Affiliate Business Development Manager in February 2022.
An experienced Affiliate and Business Development Manager, Smook has more than 18 years of experience gained at gambling and casinos, as well as working knowledge of multiple global markets across North America, Latin America and Europe.
Prior to joining Betsson Group Affiliates, Smook served as an Affiliate Manager at Legolasbet, from May 2018 for around a year and a half before switching to Betwinner Affiliates where he served just two months in the fall of 2019. Both roles were based in Sliema, Malta.
From Customer Support to Senior Affiliate Manager
His career started in 2000 as an Online Banking Support Consultant for Standard Bank Group in Johannesburg, South Africa but he spent less than a year in the role before switching to a similar position with Osiris Trading, a company he spent five-and-a-half-years performing also as a Fraud Screening Consultant and a Gateway Processing Administrator.
Smook, who has an unfinished BA in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Johannesburg, then spent 2 years as an Assistant Sales Manager with THG Sports before joining Marble Gold 395 PTY where he grew from a Marketing and Sales Executive in July 2009 to an Affiliate Account Manager in June 2013. He remained with the gambling business operating out of South Africa until November 2017.
Based at Betsson’s headquarters in Malta, Smook commenced his new role on November 14 and began leveraging his wide area of expertise which includes digital marketing, contact centers, electronic payments, and risk, besides affiliate management and business development.
Betsson Group Affiliates expanded their Latin American hunting ground in September with the addition of Mexico following the commencement of operations by the group via the betsson.mx platform, introducing casino gaming and sports betting to local players.
