BetMGM has been named as the “Authorized Gaming Operator” of the Professional Fighters League (PFL). The partnership will give MGM Resorts International and joint venture partner Entain access to PFL promotions, VIP events, and the use of the PFL logos and marks.
Officially commencing from June 10, BetMGM customers will have the opportunity to wager on PFL fights on ESPN and streaming platforms.
PFL CEO Heralds the Deal as a Win for the new MMA League
While relatively new, PFL CEO Peter Murray was quick to highlight the opportunities the deal provides for the youngest MMA league in the US. “We’re excited to partner with BetMGM to evolve our premium betting experiences for the millions of passionate sports fans across the country ahead of PFL 4 on June 10.”
Murray pointed out that the unique format of the PFL season will appeal to the sports betting community in the US.
“Our fighters are facing win-or-go-home matchups in the remaining regular-season events, and expanding our sports betting offerings delivers another thrilling component to our league,” Murray added.
The admiration for the potential of the PFL was mutual from BetMGM Chief Revenue Officer Matt Prevost.
“The upcoming PFL slate is phenomenal, and we look forward to offering fans exciting opportunities to get in on the action with unique PFL promotions on BetMGM.”
PFL Continues to Grow Aggressively in 2021
While other sporting organizations around the US have continued to struggle under the weight of the pandemic, the PFL has expanded over the last twelve months. In April, the PFL signed multi-year deal with DraftKings, making it the official sportsbook and daily fantasy partner.
The PFL has been actively seeking new methods to broaden its fanbase by leveraging technology and betting partnerships. The league has formed strategic partnerships with NFL teams, English Premier League Football and developed blockchain Fan tokens with fintech company Socios.com.
After raising $65 million in February, the deal with BetMGM has helped the league position itself for further expansion towards the latter half of 2021.
How Does the PFL compare with other MMA brands?
The PFL offers a regular and championship season format for fighters, similar to an NFL or NBA season. The format includes individual fighters competing in a regular season, playoffs, and Championships.
