Earlier this month, the company demonstrated the functionalities and features of its mobile sports betting platform, Betfred Sportsbook. After the successful demonstration, the gambling regulator in the state awarded the brand with a mobile sports betting license in the state.

The latest license from the MLGCC makes Betfred the eighth licensed operator in Maryland. As a result, the company joins a growing roster of online betting market leaders that includes FanDuel, DraftKings, Caesars, PointsBet, BetRivers, BetMGM and Barstool.

Arriving in the state, Betfred Sportsbook delivers new and engaging wagering options for bettors and sports fans alike. At the same time, the license in Maryland boosts the company’s ongoing growth and helps with the development of a robust and competitive market in another US state.

Betfred Continues Statewide Expansion

By now, Betfred has a presence in nearly a dozen US states. Besides Maryland, the company has entered the regulated betting markets in Virginia, Ohio, Iowa, Washington, Arizona and Louisiana. Moreover, the company is licensed in major markets including Colorado, Pennsylvania and most recently, Nevada.

The latest announcement coincided with another major achievement for Betfred. Besides securing a license in Maryland, last week, the company revealed the launch of its newest retail outlet. Located inside the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, the new Betfred retail sportsbook opened its doors for visitors on Thursday.

The launch marked the company’s first move within the regulated sports wagering market in Nevada. The entry became possible thanks to a green light from the gambling regulator in the state, the Nevada Gaming Commission, as well as the Nevada Gaming Control Board, which allowed Betfred to manage a sportsbook location at Mohegan Sun Sportsbook.

The timing of the opening couldn’t be more ideal with the new partnership between the Vegas Golden Knights and Betfred Sports and as the resort prepares to welcome football fans from across the country to enjoy the championship game.

Richard “Boz” Bosworth, president and CEO of JC Hospitality

At the time of the announcement, Richard “Boz” Bosworth, the president and CEO of JC Hospitality, the company that owns Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, acknowledged that the launch comes at the perfect time, considering Betfred’s deal with the Vegas Golden Knights, a leading NHL franchise. Moreover, he predicted that the new sportsbook will be well-received by sports fans and bettors alike.
