An established Latin American sports betting operator is embarking on its international journey by entering a European market that promises a lot of potential.
Approval for Online Sports Betting
Having created a name for itself in Latin America for its transparent and fair-play sports betting solutions, Betcris announced its international foray began via an entry into the regulated sports betting market in Poland.
It is a great day for Betcris. Starting operations in Poland was a great choice, the local work team has made sure that the Betcris brand maintains its level of excellence and we are excited about all the possibilities that this opens for us as a company.”
JD Duarte, CEO, Betcris
The first step into European markets will allow the sports betting operator, which was fundamental in shaping Latin America’s sports betting industry, to gain knowledge about specific wagering patterns in the country and in Europe, as well as build a profile for the local sports bettor.
Betcris has earned its leadership position in Latin America and now that we come to Poland, we will continue to make history. I love entering new markets and zeroing in on what makes customers happy. We have a great team that I’m sure will accomplish great things.”

Strategy Execution
The European entry of the operator began last year when it started to explore ways to enter the sports betting scene in Poland, researching market particulars ahead of a possible launch of an online sportsbook.
Poland is one of the most dynamically developing markets in Europe with operators offering services at a high level.”
Jacek Jakubowski, Board Member, Betcris Poland
It was then when Betcris realized local retail bookmakers were either scaling back or shutting down operations, pressured by the coronavirus-related restrictions, a fact that further incentivized the Latin American operator to offer its sportsbook as an online alternative to retail wagering.
It is a very competitive market, but we strongly believe that our brand, based on our attractive product and the many years of experience we have in other countries combined with excellent customer service, will meet the expectations of Polish clients and let us build a strong position in this market.”
Jacek Jakubowski, Board Member, Betcris Poland
Poland established a solid and stable gaming environment with the Gambling Act 2017, implementing regulation with clarified rules and succinct controls, and while there have been some minor changes afterwards, the market responded positively.
Last year, sports betting saw approximately $1.85 billion in handle and private operators directed $205.6 million in taxes to state coffers, while, for the past two years, online wagering registered double-digit growth.
