On October 6, the American Gaming Association (AGA) announced that it has appointed Maureen Beddis as senior vice president, of membership, and events.
Maureen Beddis Joins from The Vision Council with Extensive Experience in the Optical Industry
Maureen Beddis’ appointment to AGA’s executive team will be effective from October 31. She joins from The Vision Council, a non-profit trade association of producers and providers of optical equipment, where Beddis spent the last 16 years.
Her latest position at The Vision Council was as executive vice president, of membership and strategic initiatives. However, her experience in the optical industry spans more than 20 years.
Her main responsibility at The Vision Council was to bolster the public image of the trade organization and the companies that were its members.
Beddis was leading the organization’s marketing and services to members. She was responsible for overseeing all communications of The Vision Council both with members and other organizations, her team performed marketing research and was also working with efforts to make regulatory changes benefiting the industry.
Beddis led The Vision Council through the tough times of the pandemic reshaping the organization’s marketing strategy and developing innovative campaigns such as Digital Eye Strain and National Sunglasses Day, which was so popular that it went viral.
Previously, she held positions at Carl Zeiss Vision where she was a brand manager. She also worked for the automobile industry in her role as an account manager at Tattar Cutler-DBC Public Relations.
In terms of education, Beddis graduated from Temple University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a focus on public relations.

In her new position, Beddis will be responsible for managing and developing the industry events organized by AGA, in particular the G2E, and will be managing all communications and relations with the Association’s members.
Beddis also expressed her excitement and said she is looking forward to working with the AGA team to promote and further develop the Association’s major international event Global Gaming Expo (G2E).
Beddis also expressed her readiness to work towards a blossoming regulated gambling market, where all stakeholders thrive.
