Bookmakers See Sungjae Im as the Favorite
The man who won the Honda Classic two years ago is now seen as the #1 favorite to do it again. The 23-year-old South Korean is currently sitting in the #24 position in the Official World Golf Rankings. Speaking of the rankings, there are only three players from the top 20 who are taking part in this event.
One of those s Daniel Berger, who’s seen as the #2 favorite at +1600. The same odds are given on Joaquin Niemann, a Chilean golfer who’s one of the top earners in the golfing world in 2022. Niemann is the man who’s coming off a win at Genesis Invitational last week.
Brooks Koepka comes in as shared fourth favorite, together with Louis Oosthuizen and Tommy Fleetwood.
Is It Time for Underdogs to Upset the Odds?
Most of the world’s best golfers have decided to skip past this event, meaning that some lower-ranked players will have a chance to get ahold of the title, as well as $1.4 million.
One of the dark horses who could make their dreams come true this week in Florida is Tommy Fleetwood. The English golfer has been in a title drought for a long time, winning his last worldwide title back in 2019. However, this doesn’t mean he’s been out of shape. On the contrary, the 31-year-old hasn’t missed a cut in his previous 18 starts.
His most recent tournament was the Saudi International, where we saw him finish in tied eighth position. It’s not crazy to assume he’ll do at least equally well at the Honda Classic, and with the odds of +2000, Fleetwood does look like a decent betting option.
- Pick: Tommy Fleetwood (+2000)
